Giving & Mitten Tree: Supporting Our Community

As the holiday season approaches, Mount Calvary is once again participating in our Giving & Mitten Tree campaign, a chance to support local organizations and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. This year, we are partnering with Lincoln Place, Ally Supportive Services, and Jonathan House, each doing vital work in our community.

How You Can Help

We are collecting a variety of donations to support the work of these incredible organizations:

  1. Gift Cards: We’re asking for $10 & $20 gift cards to Walmart, Cub, and Target. These will be distributed to help people in need purchase essential items during the holidays.

  2. Move-In Kits for Jonathan House: Jonathan House provides housing for people seeking asylum in Minnesota, and we’re helping set up new residents in their new homes. Items needed to create move-in kits include:

    • Twin sheet sets

    • Comforters

    • Laundry baskets

    • Pillows

    • Towel sets

Simply take a tag from the tree and bring the corresponding item back to the church by December 8.

  1. Mitten Tree: Once all the move-in kit tags are taken, we’ll shift focus to collecting mittens, hats, and scarves to support people in need this winter. Most of the donations will be delivered to The Open Door, an organization that serves over 15,000 people in Dakota County each month with food and other resources.

More About Our Partners

  • Lincoln Place: This organization provides permanent and subsidized housing for young adults in need. Your donations help provide safe housing and stability for those working to build a better future.

  • Ally Supportive Services: This organization conducts homeless outreach and provides support to people living without housing. They work tirelessly to offer resources and support to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community.

  • Jonathan House: Jonathan House offers housing and support to individuals seeking asylum in Minnesota. Many of the people they serve have fled unsafe conditions, and your support helps them create a fresh start in a new community.

  • The Open Door: The Open Door provides food for families and individuals in need throughout Dakota County. Each month, they serve over 15,000 people, ensuring no one goes hungry during times of crisis.

How You Can Participate

We invite you to take a tag from the tree, pick up a requested item, and return it to church by December 8. Your generosity will help meet critical needs in our community, from providing gift cards to purchasing essential household items and warm winter gear.

We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing how our church community can make this holiday season a little brighter for those who need it most!

Drop off your donations at the church or contact us for more ways to get involved. Let’s make the season of giving even more meaningful!
